If your customers aren’t already using primer, they could be missing out on optimal makeup application.
Makeup primer helps to moisturize the skin, fight shiny or greasy looking skin as well as create a smooth foundation for makeup. It can even help makeup last longer as it is less likely to cake in dry patches on the skin or crease in fine lines. The primer can also give makeup something to hold on to, so it doesn’t fade as quickly than it may on skin that hasn’t been primed.
A primer serum alone, however, may not be an effective delivery method. A quick primer face mask can leave skin feeling more hydrated, slightly dewy and ready for makeup in as little as five minutes. Here’s how.
Face Masks Provide More Effective Delivery System than Serums Alone
What makes a mask primer different than just a primer serum on its own? Our skin is close to our internal body temperature of 98 degrees. When a skincare formula is applied to skin, the water in the formula starts to evaporate, leaving behind the key ingredients at the surface of the skin. The lamination in a sheet mask’s material increases the barrier function of the formula by adding a seal on top of the serum and skin which reduces evaporation and absorbs heat from the skin so that more of the effective ingredients can penetrate the skin.
Key Ingredients in the Mask Formula
Not all sheet masks require a 20-minute commitment at the end of the day, after makeup has been removed. A primer face mask is meant to be used prior to makeup application and works in as little as five minutes with formula ingredients that prep the skin for flawless makeup application. The creamy, high-viscosity formula provides instant moisture without a greasy feeling.
Our primer mask has beneficial ingredients, chosen for their specific properties:
- Arginine is an essential amino acid with antioxidant properties that can help build collagen production and assist in hydration, making skin look more clear and radiant.
- Cetyl ethylhexanoate moisturizes the surface of the skin, removes the appearance of dry patches and flakes and gives skin a smooth and soft appearance.
- Hydroxyacetophenone is a multifunctioning ingredient with antioxidant and soothing characteristics, used to reduce skin irritation and inflammation.
When and How to Use a Primer Face Mask?
For a flawless makeup application, use one primer mask before applying makeup to smooth out the skin and provide a surge of moisture.
First, wash and dry the skin to remove any excess oils. Position the mask on the face and apply with the clear film facing out. Remove the clear film and use your hands to smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles so that as much of the mask as possible makes contact with the skin.
Leave the mask on for five minutes while the serum’s ingredients penetrate the skin. After the time is up, remove the mask and gently pat the remaining product into your skin. It will continue to provide moisture throughout the day. Once dry, the smooth and hydrated skin will provide an even surface for makeup which can be applied as normal using the same tools and techniques.
